After graduation I went to Kenyon College for 3 semesters and then transferred to the University of Wyoming. I graduated in 1975 with a B.S. in chemistry. I then when to Creighton University School of Medicine. Married Cinda Nab (EHS Class of 1972) in December 1978. Graduated from Creighton in 1979. Completed my Internal Residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver in June 1982. Cindy and I divorced later that year. I moved to Gillette in 1982 and joined an Internal Medicine practice. Alison Saricks, whom I met as a nurse at St Joseph's, and I were married in Gillette in July 1983. Our daughter Erica Reese was born in February 1984. In 1985 Alison, Erica and I moved to Casa Grande, AZ, where I joined my Dad in his Internal Practice. Our son, Aaron was born in January 1986. My Dad died in November1989. I decided to pursue a fellowship in Medical Oncology/Hematology at Michigan State University which I completed in 1990. Alison, Erica, Aaron and I moved to Ft. Collins to join Hematology and Oncology Associates in the summer of 1990. That practice split in 1999 and two of us joined Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers also in Ft. Collins. Alison and I divorced in 2000. Lisa Frihauf, originally from a farming family Yuma, CO, and I married in August 2001. It was the 3rd marriage for both of us. I gained 2 more daughters as a result, Sierra and Bailey. In 2002 Ivinson Memorial Hospital (IMH) in Laramie made me an offer I couldn't refuse, and Lisa, Sierra, Bailey and I moved to Laramie while Erica and Aaron remained in Ft. Collins with Alison. In 2008 we adopted 2 boys from Ethiopia, Nati (8) and Kidus (3). After a couple years of administrative turmoil at IMH we moved to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE in 2009. That position proved to be a disappointment and in 2014 Lisa, the boys and I moved back to Laramie to be nearer to Sierra and Bailey who had settled there. In January 2015 I began an expert witness business, Western Oncology and Hematology Consulting Services which has grown steadily throughout the last 11 years. In March 2015 I took a temporary position as Medical Director at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins to which I commuted every day from Laramie. It was an interesting experience and gave me insight into prison health which has benefitted my expert witness activity. In August 2015 I was offered a fulltime position with Rocky Mountain Oncology in Casper to staff their satellite clinic in Lander to which I commuted to every week from Laramie. In February 2018 I stopped working fulltime and began doing locum tenens work in Casper, South Dakota, Colorado and Idaho usually a week or two in each location. I eventually took a halftime position in Cody for 2 years and then returned to halftime in Lander for several months. During all this time I was commuting from Laramie usually on a weekly basis which made it tough for Lisa at times. At last, in April 2023, I retired from clinical practice but continue to do legal work which has remained very busy. Since 2015 I have reviewed over 125 cases, given 25 depositions and testified in court 5 times. Much to my relief, life is much slower now but still rewarding helping Lisa with her furniture painting business, pursuing my passion with stained glass and chasing my grandchildren around.
